Teatro Baile de
Cavite, Teatro Caviteño Musicale Company and the Campaña y Musica
del Julian Felipe are the
three local and major performing art groups that specializes in classical and
contemporary ballet, musical theatre and musical instruments. Ballet teachers
have undergone an extensive training under the supervision of Mr. Brezhnev J.
Larlar, a former member of the Australian Ballet, a product of the
Cultural Center of the Philippines, a member of the West End Production
of Miss Saigon in London. The group is also currently teaching
ballet classes to different private schools in the province of Cavite. Aside from ballet, faculty heads
developed a syllabus for Musical Theatre and Musical Instruments.
Mr. Brezhnev J.
Larlar is a product of the Cultural
Center of the Philippines in
music, theater and dance. He won in the 1985 National Music Competition for
Young Artists in Solo Voice Category B. He was also a former member of Ballet
Philippines and an original member of
Agnes Locsin's BP II. He represented the country in the 1989 Hong Kong
International Dance Festival
He was trained by
Noordin Jumalon , Cecile Sicangco, Perry Sevidal, Nonoy Froilan, Lisa Macuja,
Edna Vida, Alice Reyes, Agnes Locsin, Effie Nañas, Gina Katigbak, Toni Lopez
Gonzales, William Morgan (UK), Alfred Rodriguez (USA), Mikhail Kukarev (Russia),
Norman Walker (New York), Miro Zolan (Europe), and Laura Alonzo (Cuba). He was a
former member of the Australian Ballet through On Stage Artist of Australian
Ballet's Prima Ballerina Christine Walsh and Ricardo Ella and was trained under
Robert Ray, Aigul Gasaina, Dame Margarett Scott O.B.E., Collin Peasley, Ray
Powell, Elsie Lim, Valukin, Kelvin Coe, Timothy Gordon, Gary Norman, and Gailene
Stock (who is the present Artistic Director of the Royal Ballet School in
London)
He performed in
almost all-Classical Ballet and Contemporary productions of both local and
international choreographers
He choreographed a
contemporary piece entitled "Insane" which was chosen to be presented in the
Australian Choreographers' Showcase which was held at the Victorian Arts Center
in Melbourne, Australia From ballet, Brezhnev shifted to musicale theatre and
joined CCP's Tanghalang Pilipino productions such as "Walang Sugat (Sarswela)",
"Bunganga ng Pating", and Rayan Cayabyab's musicale production of Noli Me
Tangere as dance master; joined the company on tour together with his excellency
Fidel V. Ramos during the Jose Rizal Conference of Asian Rennaisance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In addition, he was
also a former member of the 1997 West End Production of Miss Saigon in
Drury Lane, London as a swing
When Brezhnev
decided to retire as a performing artist, he became a full time ballet teacher
in Body Point Ballet
Center and became a member and officer
of the Association of Ballet Academies of the Philippines
He was recognized by
the New York Choreographic Institute, Arts Net
Malaysia, TheaterWorks Asia Singapore, Australian Conservatoire of Ballet
Syllabus, Philippine National Ballet Syllabus, and World Dance Alliance
Philippines He
established his very own group the Teatro Baile de Cavite and later on the
Teatro Caviteño Musical Company and the Compaña y Musica del Julian
Felipe.
Last 2004, 2005 and
last 2007, three of their products made it to the very first National Ballet
Competition for Junior and Senior category through NAMCYA (National Music
Competition for Young Artist, CCP and Department of Education). And in this year
2008, three of the product of Teatro Baile will go in Melbourne Australia for their training and
production for Australian Conservatoire of
Ballet.
They are now
offering ballet classes, musicale theatre, musical instruments, and visual arts
all over the Cavite province as part of our Histo-Cultural
Development Program. Products will be the future members not only of the Teatro
Baile de Cavite but also of the Teatro Caviteño Musicale Company and the Campaña
y Musica Del
Julian Felipe as well.
